More than 6% of America's landfill volume is textiles, which can take forever to decompose. 11 million tons of textiles are added to landfills each year.  I love taking fabric (often menswear samples and remnants) that would otherwise be thrown out and handmaking beautiful, luxurious accessories and artwork

I've been sewing as a hobby for 32 years; upon retiring from a long career as a corporate strategy consultant (often for companies that made or sold clothing, shoes and accessories), I have been exploring new creative opportunities and learning new skills

 I often get my inspiration from the creative reuse of menswear fabrics - silk, woven wool, long-staple cotton, woven or knit cashmere, and the like. I also use batik cotton to make expressive portraits of animals, landscapes, and other figural work using a raw-edge applique technique.
